Bungee jumping

HISTORY
It began in the jungles on the islands of Polynesia. There, young native boys from a wooden tower to test their manhood. Liana vines of the correct length were tied to their ankles to stop their fall just above the ground.
This tradition was brought to Europe. The first jump from a bridge took place in England in 1979. Since then it has spread all over the world.
AND WHAT ABOUT BUNGEE JUMPING IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC ?
K.I.BUNGEE JUMP Club performed the first jump from a crane in Prague in 1993. This new sport has already found a lot of friends.

WHO CAN JUMP ?
A jumper has to be older than 18. If he is younger, he has to ask for his parents permission.

WHERE CAN YOU JUMP FROM ?
Places, such as a crane, bridge, hot-air balloon, helicopter or ski-jump are good platforms. Here in our republic, the only bridge where bungee jumping is permitted is Zvíkov Bridge. It is 45m above the river. Jumps from crane cages can range from 30 to 100 m in height.

HOW TO JUMP SAFETY ?
The jumper is well informed before his first jump. The bungee is made of hundreds of latex fibres, which may stretch their free length three or four times. The jumper´s safety is doubled : at the ankles and in the waist/ chest harness. All the equipment is checked several times very carefully, so that the danger is minimalized.

…3…2…1!
As you climb over the rail, you will feel your heart beating. After a count down and a moment of hesitation you will fall. After several seconds of freefall you will feel the bungee tug on your harness, your fall will stop a few meters above the ground and you will be propelled upwards. After 4-5 swings you will again feel firm footing. YOU HAVE DONE IT!

ONLY FOR EXPERTS
Some jumpers are already bored by ordinary jumps. And so they do various somersaults, jump and throw darts, they try jumping on bikes, snowboards, motorbikes, roller skates, they try “slingshotting” from the ground up “bodydipping” into water “sandbagging” (jumping with extra weight) , or jumping from an extra height (the record is from one kilometer achieved by Jochen Schweizer)
