My favourite town

I haven’t favourite part of the town Humenné, I like whole the town. I was born in Humenné, a city in the east of Slovakia. Humenné is the centre of upper Zemplin. It is quite big (in Slovakia), with a population of about 40,000 people. There are a lot of schools, buildings, churches, shops and pubs. There are two bridges over the river Laborec. Famous architecture, monuments and a lovely countryside allow us to entitle our town as the „Pearl of the Zemplín“. Humenné is 462 km from Slovakia’s capital, Bratislava. The first written document mentioning Humenné came from Drugeths in the year 1332. In Humenné, visitors will find numerous cultural, art, sport and tourist activities available.

Many winter sports activities are available in the surrounding mountains. The nearly Zemplinska Širava or Vinné reservoir offers good opportunities for summer water sports. The oldies memory of Humenné is rare Gothic church from the 14th century. There is reconstruction Square of Liberty. There is a best shopping centre in Humenné. There are a lot of pubs, for example Santa Lucia, Barone and Moliere, a lot of dancing clubs, for example Arena, Hell bar and Puschkin. The historical centre show you typical face of Humenné. In the middle of the square there is a Singing fountain. It is very nice. At the north end of the square is a statue of M. R. Štefánik. Fine restaurants, good hospitality and a peaceful are way of life in our region. Humenné is an architectonics and socially young and modern city in present, with rich rough past and with future before Humenné.
