The legend about King Arthur began hundreds of years ago. Wild warriors came to Britain. Some of them were Angles and some of them belonged to a tribe called Saxons. These tribes repressed the people of Britain. King Arthur was the chief among the Britons. He wanted to free the people in his country. He was a brave and fair ruler. People believed that he could do miraculous things. There were twelve knights who were helping him to rule in a wise and fair way. They sat around King Arthur´s Round Table so they were all equal. But a believ in magic at that time was very strong. People believed in witches and miracles. They wanted to believe in someone who could help them. They needed a hero. The legend about King Arthur is like all other legends – they were made up of a little bit of fantasy, fairytale and a little bit of history.

Legenda o kráľovi Arthurovi začala pred stovkami rokov. Diví bojovníci prišli do Británie. Niektorí boli Anglovia a iní patrili ku kmeňu Sasov. Tieto kmene utláčali ľudí v Británii. Kráľ Arthur bol vodcom Britov. Chcel oslobodiť obyvateľov svojej krajiny. Bol statočným a spravodlivým vládcom. Ľudia verili, že môže robiť zázraky. Dvanásti rytieri mu pomáhali múdro a spravodlivo vládnuť. Všetci sedeli okolo okrúhleho stola kráľa Arthura tak, aby si boli rovní. Viera v čary bola v tej dobe veľmi silná. Ľudia verili na čarodejnice a zázraky. Chceli veriť v niekoho, kto im môže pomôcť. Potrebovali hrdinu. Legenda o kráľovi Arthurovi je ako všetky iné legendy – vznikli s použitím fantázie, rozprávky a je v nich aj niečo z histórie.
