London, with its population about 8 000 00inhabitants is the 9th largest city in the world. It is situated on the Thames and as the capital of Great Britain has a rich ancient history.

St. Paul´s Cathedral is the heart of City of London. It is very large and it was built between 1675 and 1710. It is the work of a well-known English architect Sir Christopher Wren. This great renaissance church is dedicated to the honour of Saint Paul.

Piccadilly circus is the very famous square in the heart of London. In the middle of Piccadilly there is a statue of Eros – the God of Love.

National galery is situated along the north-west side of the square, with the National Portrait galery behind it. National Galery includes works by all the great Europa masters. There are collections of paintings from Duccio and Margarito of Arezzo to Monet or Ronoir, Titian, da Vinci, Rembrandt, Cezanne, Raphael and Van Gogh.

St. Katherine's Dock close to the Tower of Lon don. For more than a century it bustled with commercial activity, now it has been transformed into a marina with a display of historic ships.

St. James's Park is the oldest park, one of architect John Nash's masterpieces. In the 19th century he created a lake with small islands, which are the home of many water birds.

Hyde Park is probably the most popular park among tourists.The main entrance to Hyde Park is at Hyde Park Corner in the Southeast, the busiest London crossroad. In the Northeast corner of Hyde Park stands the Marble Arch.

Kensington palace
On the west, Hyde Park continues with Kensington Gardens. Here stands the Albert Memorial and Kensington Palace.
