The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is situated on the British Isles lying off the northwest coat of Europe.
The country has a mild and rainy climate, determined by the warm current of the Gulf Stream. The prevailing winds are south-westerly. Rain is regularly distributed throughout the year and average temperatures are about 12 °C. during summer, the are January and February. The population of the UK is more then 59 million . The UK is an industrialized country which is now moving more towards service industries such as finance. The islands are rich in mineral resources and coal mining was once a major industry. The chief agricultural products are wheat, barley, coats, potatoes, sugar beet, milk and meat.
Great Britain comprises England, Wales, and Scotland.

England
England occupies the largest, southern part of Great Britain. England is highly industrialized. Industrial Revolution in the late 18 th and early 19 th centuries has mainly been. Newcastle upon Tyne is a centre of industry based on coal, iron, steel and shipbuilding. Birmingham, the centre of the West Midlands and the second largest city of England, has developed light engineering and motor vehicle manufacture.
England has a very rich architecture. There are many of greatest cathedrals and churches. The English countryside is remarkable for its green fields and trees because there are no extremes in climate. The country has a long coastline. The most beautiful natural scenery can be seen in the northwest of England in the Lake District.

Wales
Wales is a largely mountainous country bordered on the north and west by the Irish Sea and on the south by the Bristol Channel.
Wales is famous for its long rivers, wide lakes and high hills in the north.
The majority the population of Wales lives in the coal-mining and industrial region of Cardiff, the capital of Wales. Welsh is the first language an official language. Wales is rich in culture and history. The Welsh people love music and poetry.
