My Favourite Part of the City I Live In
My Favourite Part of the City I Live InThe city I live in is Bratislava. Bratislava is the capital city of the Slovak Republic. I have lived here for all my life, except a few weeks just after I was born. Now, I am going to tell a little something about it’s history and describe my favourite part of this city. The first written record about Bratislava is from 907. It was when the Hungarian tribes waged a war against Bavarian soldiers.
The name of the city was Brezalauspurc. Later on, the city was renamed Pressburg (in German) and Pozsony (in Hungarian), thus it was called Prešpork in Slovak. As the time passed by, the city acquired it’s contemporary name – Bratislava. Bratislava is a quite cosmopolitan city, with it’s inhabitants of many nationalities. Now it is said it is one of the smallest metropolitan cities. In fact, Bratislava has about half a million inhabitants and spans the area of about 367.9 sqkm. Bratislava consist of 5 districts, and is located near the borders with Austria and Hungary. Now let’s move on to the part of the city I like the most. It is the right centre of it, the heart of the nightlife and entertainment. It is the oldest part of the whole municipality.
I like mostly because it is the part of town where is always something going on. You can always go there with friends. There are many cafés, which offer a very good service and perfect drinks. This district lies directly on the bank of the river Danube. Many young people enjoy walking on the riverbank, but the most of them finish in some café up to the late evening. The centre is my favourite part of the city of Bratislava. Like many other people I like to be on places where ‘it lives’ and is always something happening. I have to support the quote from one movie: ‘ You gotta love it.’
