Slovakia

The Slovak republic is situated in the heart of Europe. Slovakian borders are with Czech republic, Poland, Ukraine, Hungaria and Austria. Slovakia has the longest border with Hungary and the shortest one has with Ukraine. Slovakia is a small country in the middle of Europe. This country has a population of 5,5 million. The official language is Slovak, but in this country you can also speak in other languages: English, German, Czech and Hungarian. Slovakia is a beautiful and unique country. The most beautiful mountains are the High Tatras, which have the highest peak Gerlach. Gerlach is 2 655 meters high. High Tatras are the most popular center of tourism. There are many wonderful tourist paths for summer recreation and ski resorts for winter sports. Slovakia has many monuments like Bratislava castle, Bojnice castle, Orava castle.

Bratislava
Bratislava is the capital and also the biggest city of Slovakia. Ivan Gašparovič is the president of Slovak republic and his residence is in Bratislava. The second biggest town of Slovakia is Košice and next smalller towns are Prešov, Banská Bystrica, Žilina, Nitra, Trnava and Trenčín. In Bratislava is also situated the biggest airport in Slovakia. Here we can find a lot of cultural remembrances.

Liptovský Mikuláš
Liptovský Mikuláš is my home town. My town is pretty big, and has about 50 000 citizens. Liptovský Mikuláš also has regional TV Liptov. The maior of town is a Ján Blcháč.It si very beautiful town which has lot of cultural remembrances, mountains and caves, for example Jánošik prison, museum of Janko Kráľ, High Tatras, Low Tatras, Demänovská ice cave... Liptovský Mikuláš has very nice fountains. In town output of wood, crafts and business were dilated. In 1677 Liptovský Mikuláš became a district seat and the place where the district meetings and the court would be in session L. Mikuláš was an important town of cultural and national life. In 1713 Juraj Jánošík, a wellknown highwayman, folk hero was in prison here in manor - house Vranovo and he was also condemned to death and executed gibbet by arris here on the square on 17. of March 1713.
