The most popular of his stories involved the primitive struggle of strong and weak individuals in context of irresistible natural forces such as the wild sea or the arctic wastes. At a time when Americans frontier was closing he adapted the physical ruggeness and psyshological independence of Rudyard Kiplings heroes to the American experience in THE CALL OF THE WILD, THE SEA WOLF, THE WHITE FANG. London was also fascinated by the way violence tested and defined human characters, he was very interested in ideas and was not very sentimental - it is shown in his work THE LAW OF LIFE. I personaly read his book THE STAR ROVER. This book is not so usuall for London especially its topic. It is fantasy book, may be authors thinking of paranormal activities. London trust there in existence of somethig between the earth and sky. The main hero is jailled man in the worst jail in America. He was tortured and he tried to find the way how to sirvive it. He started with meditations and so he managed that during torturing his soul left the body so he felt nothing. He made the trips to his previos lives. If I didn't see the name London on the first page of the book, I would never believed that he had written it. London continued to write until his death in l9l6 from a gastrointernal tipe of uraemia, widely supposed to have been suicide. But Londons stories of man in and against nature continue to be popular all over the world. In the, London strips everything down to the sybolic starkness of dream with the power of ancient myth.
