The Pyramids of Egypt
They are the oldest and latest from 7 wonders of the world that are today.
They are in Gisa on the other side of the Nile than Cairo. The biggest of them is the Pyramid of Cheops - the Egypt pharaon. Two smaller pyramids were of his son and grandson. Their wives had other smaller pyramids. We thing that
100 000 slaves built one pyramid longer than 20 years. They needed more than 2 millions peaces of stones. White limestone was on surface, so pyramids looked like that they shined. Stones from surface were later taken to peaces and they were used to buildings in Cairo.

The Handing Gardens of Babylon
They were built about 600 B. C. for king Nabúkadnesar the second. The king built the gardens for his young wife Amytis wouldn’t a homesick, because she came from mountains in Persia.
Lot of kinds of different trees and plants grew there. The Temple of Diana
King Kroisos built it. 120 marble columns propped up a roof. Every column was high 20 m. Big statue of Diana stayed in the middle of the temple.
Diana was a goddess of Moon and a protector of animals and young girls.
In 356 B.C. it burned. Alexander the Great ordered to built the new one, which stood to 3rd century.

The Statue of Zeus at Olympia
In 5th century inhabitants of Olympia decided to build a temple of Zeus, the highest god of Greek religiousness. They used big stone peaces to build of this temple. The temple was without the statue for a few years.
A very popular sculptor from Athens – Feidas made it from ivory (body) and gold (clothes). Zeus sat on a throne from ebony and precious stones. The statue was
13 m high and it stayed in Olympia for 800 years.
When Romans closed Greek temples the statue was moved to Istanbul and in 462 fires destroyed it.

The Tomb of Mausolus
Mausolus was a king of one part of Persia. He planed giant tomb for him and his wife. He died before the build of the tomb was finished. But his wife watched it to built to the end.
Their ash was given to gold coffins in main hall, which line stone lions looked after. Gradual pyramid was on the top of building.
The Mausoleum was complete destroyed by an earthquake.

The Colossus of Rhodes
A giant statue of god Helios stayed on island Rhodes in the Egey-Sea. It was built to celebrate winner with Greeks.
We don’t know where the statue stayed, but we know that it was from bronze and it was 33 m high.
