Jules Verne was born on February 8, 1828 in France. Pier’s and Sophie’s son Jules went to school in Paris. His dad was a lawyer. When he was a young boy, he ran away from his home. Jules Verne got married to Honorie Anne Marie Morel who has already two daughters named Valentine and Suzana. Later on they had a child together. It was a boy and they called him Michael. Later on in his life he started writing the unrealistic stories and he became a very famous writer who wrote a lots of great books. Jules studied geography and science. That’s where he got a lot of facts and ideas for his stories. This helped to make his stories more realistic and believable. He wrote his first book in 1863 and it was called „Five days in balloon“. Verne also wrote other books like „Journey to the Center of the Earth“, „Twenty thousand Leagues Under the Sea“ and „The Mysterious Island“. Jules Verne wrote over fifty books in his lifetime, most of which he used his knowledge of science and geography to help you see what’s happening. Jules won two separate awards. One of them was a Legion of Honor. He received this award in 1870. The other award that he won, in 1872, was an award from the French Academy. Verne had diabetes and he died of this on March 24, 1905. Jules Verne died in Amiens, France and he was buried in The La Madeline Cemetery.



Around the world in eighty days

One of the most famost stories that Jules Verne wrote is called „Around the World in 80 Days“. He wrote this book in 1872 when he was fifty years old. The story „Around the world in eighty days“ is about Mr. Phileas Fogg and his servant Passepartout. Mr. Fogg was known as one of the very spoiled gentlemen of the high English society. Mr. Fogg preferred to spent most of his time at home or in the Reform club, reading the newspaper or playing card games with his friends. Mr. Fogg was in the Reform club playing cards with his friends as usual. One of the players was the other gentlemen the news he had read in the newspaper. He One day was telling them about a burglary of 50,000 pounds from the London bank. Another gentleman at the table said that if the criminal was smart he would leave England and move into some other country. He said that the world was big enough to get lost and never be found by the police. Mr. Fogg didn’t agree with the other gentleman.
