Family and Home
A family consists of people who are socially-related to one another. An exam of such a social relationship might be marriage or cohabitation. A family used to lives in common household, which the family members called their home. Everyone sees the sense of home differently. However, I think that nobody calls home something, which one doesn’t like.
Family relations: I think that girls and their mothers and boys and their fathers understand each other better than vice versa, but in my opinion it depends on the parent, who keeps spending more time with the child raising it. And I think that banter on mothers-in-law isn’t fortuity. Because mothers always want the best for their children and when spouses quarrel, they can not upbraid their children. And the most difficult thing for young people is introduction of their new partner, because parents will always emphasize some of his disadvantages. Other typical problem is a relation between brother and sister. They always fight together or argue about something and parents have to make a fairly decision.
There are lots of families around us with substantial problems. Family should consist of two parents, because single-parents families cannot give their children everything, what they need. Mainly children need love from both of parents. These parents should marry, because people, who live together and raise their children without being formally married, give their children a sense of doubt. And from my point of view wedding is a beautiful thing and with religious ceremony even more. The worst is when one of parents becomes a widow or a widower, or when children become orphan. I think that orphans can’t have normal family, when their parents never raised them, they don’t know how to raise their own children. Also a little problem is when parents have the only one child, because the child doesn't know to share. If a couple couldn’t have more children, private placement could be a solution. However, a child can loathe his step-siblings, so parents ought to consider all advantages and disadvantages. Similar problem is situation, when parents are descendant and they find new spouses, because the child can be hardly accepted by new parents, siblings or two homes.
Also difficult situation is when parents haven’t got an engagement. Children cannot have always what they need and some people without job begin to tope. Domestic violence very often rises after this manner. Children or women often become victims. They could be abused sexually, physically or verbally. Problems in family could start up too, when one of the spouses isn’t permissive, tolerant; when parents don’t know how to solve problems, how to raise a child correctly; when they give a child useless punishment and don’t give a good pattern to the child. All the facts which I name are examples of a broken home, real home is a place where people live, who love each other. If these people have children, they raise them the best way they know. Family life is different in every country. I would tell about family life in Slovakia, England and America. In our country, family does lots things together. Kinship family meets at various anniversaries. Most often they celebrate birthday. At this occasion all members of family come together and the guests bring presents, flowers, candy and other gifts. Life in a village is different as life in a city. In a village people live an obsolete way of life. In a village people are more churchgoer and according to that they raise their children. The most significant difference in family life in the past and now is different position of a woman in a family. In the past, housekeeper was always a man and divorce was forbidden, especially for religious reasons. And in past parents often castigated their children. More family members lived in a house as in present. Modern families discuss problems more and try to solve them. The parents don’t grow up their children by old habits, but by psychological observation. Modern families are much more concerned with the quality of life and they plan the size of their family carefully according to their financial situation.
There have been many changes in the life-style of the British family over the last decades. In the traditional British family, several generations from grandparents to grandchildren lived together under one roof. Today only, the parents and dependent children live in the same house. The grandparents and independent children live apart. Most of British children attend state schools. If their school is several miles from their home, a special bus picks them up every day. An average American family lives in a private house or in an apartment, has one or more phones, cable TV, stereo, a videocassette recorder. Members of the family share duties around the house. It is a typical custom to teach children independence from an early age. The car is a necessity and each adult member of a typical American family has own car. Most of Americans drive to work and high school students or college’s students to school. Americans like travelling and they often drive long distances through the country, especially during holidays to visit their friends and relatives. During holidays and special occasions, Americans like to eat outdoors with family or friends and have picnics and barbecues.
I think that family, real home and our relatives is what we need for a full-value life. They always help us when we need them, we never feel alone, because we fashion them.
