Sports are one of the most popular leisure time activities. Sports help to keep fit both physical and mentally. They can help to take some weight, and makes use of skills and strength. During sports events one can meet a lot of new people and see how it feels to be a winner or a looser.
Sport is devided into several ways:
1. Indoor and outdoor sports
a. Indoor games include for example gymnastics, table tennis, boxing, wrestling, bowling, fencing, act.
b. Outdoor sports include for example skiing, rock climbing, horse riding, golf, wind surfing, soccer, horse riding, act.
But most sports and almost all games can be done both indoors and outdoors. It could be track and field events for instance. These events take place in summer stadiums as well as in athletic halls. The games are usually all-season activities. The most numerous group of games are the ball games such as soccer, volleyball or basketball.
2. Individual and collective sports
Sports might be differentiated into individual sports and collective sports.
a. Individual sports are for example boxing, rock climbing, fencing, weight lifting, skiing or cycling.
b. Collective sports include for example football, baseball, basketball, voleyball or hockey. There are several players in each team which stands opposite next one. The most popular are ice-hockey and football.
3. Profesional and amateur sports
Professionals are paid for making sports and for playing games. Professionalism makes sports turn into a business. People who make sports and play games professionally don’t usually take it like a fun, but they make it because of money and fame.Amateurs games are played for fun, good health, relax, but not for money or fame. There are big money in professional sports. Most of those money are from sponsors.
4. Summer and winter sports
People who live near mountains prefer winter sports. They like skiing, snowboarding, ice-hockey. The last one is popular in all over the world. We can play these sports only when snow and ice are. But most people prefer summer ones. They are interested in windsurfing, canoeing, beach volleyball, football, cricket and nowadays very popular golf.
5. Watter sports
They can play outdoor and indoor, too. Canoeing, rafting and windsurfing are typical summer-watter sports and very popular between yuong people. They are a bit dangerous. But in my opinion the most dangerous is white-watter rafting on the wild rivers. These sport need their typical condicions, for example: windsurfing needs strong wind and high waves.
6. Dangerous (extreme) sports
I think every sport is a bit dangerous. This type of sports are popular between young people. In summer there are popular climbing, jumping, hang gliding. Box, karate and kung-fu are played mostly in the eastern countries.
