Malta is known as the isle of sunshine and history and for good reason. Many people say that "Big is beautiful", but with malta the opposite is true.
GEOGRAPHY AND ENVIROMENT:
The small island of Malta is located in the Mediterranean Sea, south of Sicily and north of Libya. The climate is temperate with long, hot summers and mild winters, which means that it is a good tourist destination throughout the year.
Early influences are Greek, Roman and Arab as well as others, but much of its modern history was shaped by France and England. In 1962 Malta became an independent state.
Visitors to the isle can explore many museums which are full of arteacts from various fields, including art, naval history and archaeology. For tourists who want to find some solitude, the sister islands of Gozo and Comino provide the ideal escape. Although malta is a small place its horizons are endless.
