My home - My castle
It is surely not easy to say what a home is, but it is certain, that it is not only a house. It’s feeling of security, relations, people we love, our family, things we can’t do live without. For many people these things are in one place, place they call home. Home is place, which they can to call their own, place where can to return to, some place where they can to feel in security.
Slovakia Housing
A many Slovak Families don’t own their houses and flats in which they live. They live in lodging or they live in state flats. For these flats they must to pay rental. In order to purchase a house, a family in Slovakia need all money. There is a bank VUB in republic, whitch provides to borrow up to 60 % of the value of the house and two building savings-banks. (VUB WUSTENROD, …). A state assists to a housing (to buy flat, to build a house, reconstrution, goverment making housing fund). Of course, not everyone´s wishes to buy or rent a house is so ordinary.
There are several types of houses in Slovakia.
- Terraces houses. They are built in a row and are joined one to another to form a street. At the back they either have a small garden or paved yard.
- Detaches house. this house standing alone, usually surrounded by gardens
- Flats .We can see them most in the cities, because it is economics system of living. In small area can live more people A flat is situated on one floor and is designed for one family. A flat a forms a part of blocks of flats. It may be very large with nearly as much space as the house, or it may be one or many rooms with kitchen and bathroom. In small area can live more people. But I think around this flats isn’t enough green areas for children and this places begin be dangerous for children’s playing.
- Apartments buildings. They are situated in the centre of big Slovakia cities, which are owned by big companies or private owner. These houses are very furnished and equipped with modern household appliances. There are usually have one or more phones and TV sets, stereo, video systems a microwave and fridge-freezer.
- Cottages. These are small houses that either stand alone or in groups, but you don´ t find them much in bigger towns or cities .In this house people live all year or it can be use as a weekend house for “city family”
- Bungalows. Is one –stores houses. We can see then in the cities but in the villages too
Almost half of all Slovak families live in the houses not in the flats.
I think they need them own privacy, garden, green around his house. In the garden it is common to have a lawn, some flowers and maybe a tree or two, and many people also like to have a patio next to the house where they can eat and simply sit in sunny days. They want to be a “Lords of their houses”.
In the centre of big Slovakia cities many people live in apartments situated in large apartment buildings. They usually live in apartments which are owned by big companies or private owners (renting system). These houses are well furnished and equipped with modern house-hold appliances. There are usually one or more phones and TV sets, stereo and video systems, a microwave and the fridge-freezer in these apartments. The Slovak home is a busy and lively place.
This is Slovakia housing by my point of view.
Housing in Great Britain
Housing in the Great Britain is very near to Slovak one. A majority of British people owns their house or flat rather than renting it. There is difference between Great Britain and Slovak republic, almost nobody in GB actually builds his own house. Instead people normally buy their houses either from commercial builder or the people who are already living there. There are lots of terraced houses and semidetached houses everywhere and it makes a fine show. It is beautiful when there aren’t any huge blocks of flats. The typical Englishman prefer small base houses to blocks of flats and it looks better in my opinion. Most of British houses have a garden. Houses are made of red bricks or conrete, stone and wood. Instead we either paint them or leave them their natural colour. Roofs are made of different materials. Most of them are made of slate or roofing tiles, but somewhere you can still find half-timbered houses with thatched roofs. The houses have usually 4 to 6 rooms, two floors, small front or back garden.
I think every country has its problems with homeless people. The government built for them a sheltered houses, but not everybody wants to leave his street life style and live there.
I live with my parents in a flat in Piešťany .our flat is situated on the second floor in the block of flats. It consist of four rooms, kitchen and bathroom. One room is my, where I spend a lot of time, one is a living room, one is my parents’ room, and one room belong to my brother. These rooms are connecting by hall. Our flat is so large and we have a good look to the nearest park.
Our flat and problems of housing
Today era brings us many problems. Housing is one of that.
Thanks our government young people, who want to found family, can't live. I think, this situation is very horrible - I pause on fact, that natality in our republic is very poor. There is problem of style of living. If we visit some bigger town in Czech republic, we will see typical estate of block of flats. These estates bring us too many problems. I live in this estate and I know, what´s living with so much people together. Human is social entity, but this situation isn't good. In my opinion, houses with maximal 2 stairs are ideal. For this houses is typical family atmosphere. My friend live in this house and he agree with me in this cause. We have problems with parks and green generally. Many people have dog or cat and green is cover for their waste and small children plays games there. It is very unhealthy. This one is the problem with a playgrounds. We have about 10 houses in our part of estate, but only two playgrounds. This problem is connected with raising of criminality. Children can't make sport, because there isn't place for theirs activity. So, they make group and they wander around estate. I meet many groups if I go away from house and I am sorry them. Modern people want for their life many technological innovations so we see in front of their houses a lot of cars. So, I describe my ideal house.
If I count with situation, that there isn't so much place for house as now in future, I agree with small houses for most ten families. Around my house must be garden with playground and there must be garage for ten cars under the house - every family can have max one car. So, I will continue. I describe my flat. My flat will have five rooms, one big kitchen - certainly bigger than in our flat now - and big bathroom with accessories. If I will have two childrens, I´d like to have two rooms - for everybody one room. I want my own workroom. I want flat with many windows. I like plant, so in every room - except sleeping room - must be at least one plant. Estate must be situated near some bus or train station. I think, it is good, if every man built up own house. It is tradition, that man must build house, make son and plant tree. So, I have an idea, that every family will participate on every construction. I like technological innovations, so I have vision that every house will be connected to the network and for example classic mail will be sent during this network. During winter nights children will can play computer games with their friend in another part of housing estate.
They will can correspond with friend on second part of globe so they will learn languages easily. Houses will be guarded by internet too. Every house will be connected to central guard. I think, this is silence of future. Our government don't support construction of standard houses so it won't support construction of these expensive houses in future.
