Bohemian Art Glass
The Beranek works was started in 1940 by Emanuel Beranek, a glassmaker who had returned to his native Moravia from Novy Bor at the time Nazi marched into the Sudetenland. Beranek, with his three brothers, used a technology producing glass so full of bubbles that he decided to make it look intentional. This pseudo-antique glass found buyers; however, he himself was eventually forced to close the works down during the German occupation.
During the communist era the glassworks was too small and offbeat to fit into the state industrial policy, so it was consigned to liquidation. Beranek works had it's supporters and they launched a lobbying campaign to save it. The state retreated, and the factory, now stripped of the Beranek's name, was designated to be a crafts centre under The Ministry of Culture. As it was not allowed to make the kind of glass produced by bigger factories, the logical solution was a new orientation toward art glass. Beranek Glassworks factory specializes today in handmade, mouth-blown and hot-shaped glass. The company's production reflects the successful synergy of glass-making crafts and artistic design. Beranek's products guarantee both uniqueness and quality of design and will bring to their owners great beauty and delight. The primary product line includes decorative vases, bowls, jardiniers, plates candlestick, ashtrays, glass fruits, vegetables, animals and hand faceted sculptures. Blue, green, brown and crystal constitute the base colors used in for making. A rich variety of brilliant colors is then introduced using only the highest quality color rods.
All of the works are signed by the artists

The aim of every glass producer is to engage the viewer with the natural beauty of its material, its fragility, its elegance and to captivate them with their shapes and enrapture them with their unique colors. Moser glassware evokes all of these qualities, producing perfectly executed glass. Moser is ranked among the top manufactures of quality glass throughout the world.

Svoboda
Svoboda's output ranks among the foremost Bohemian artistic glass works. His work shows his perfect mastering of glass craft in all its technological forms. Svoboda's interest includes three principal areas: designs for production of small series, author’s works with unique features(particularly blank glass, cut glass and melted glass sculptures) and last but not least architectural articles(lamps, glass walls, little fountains). It is obvious that he uses a special pin technique typical for his glassworks. Using it he makes tiny bubbles in glass and then he composes them into strict geometrically cut shapes. Consequently, unique artistic products as well as articles for everyday use are made in this way.
He is one of the few artists who decided to use glass as a special, distinctive architectural material. He has never wanted to substitute glass for either stone, wood or iron Svoboda has always just tried to use the basic properties of glass,i.e. optical features, inner space of molten glass and the possibility to shape it. He likes using the inner architecture of glass which he builds by colors and air bubbles or by arranging layers of glass.
Though in recent years he "has exchanged" the arts for enterprising, he is gradually starting to come back to it. For three years he has been creating tiny glass artistic originals which are used as awards in prestigeous competitions and events. All of his work reflects his studies of philosophy, as well as his love and sense for the beauty of glass material. Stella
