Buckingham palace is the official residence of Her majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This residence serves as a home and also as an office. It was the residence of the English monarchs since the Queen Victoria´s reign. In the Palace are nineteen State rooms, which are opened for just eight weeks a year. The Queen and the Royal family receive there the guests. In this place take place ceremonials and official occasions. The Ballroom is the largest room in this palace. It was opened for the public for the first time in 2000. It is a place, where official receptions and banquets take place. There she receives others Heads of States. They can receive medals there, for example.
In these State rooms we can find some of the finesttreasures from the Royal collection ( paintings of Rembrant, Rubens, Poussin and Canatto, statues of Canova). There are some examples of Sèvres china and some items of the finest English and French furniture in the world.
The statue of the British Queen Victoria which is situated in front of the palace is an unique monument of the British metropolish.
The Changing of the guards takes place daily at 11:30 from April until the end of July and on alternate days for the rest of the year, weather permitting.
The State rooms are open daily from 4th August to 30th Septembre. The admission is £11.00 for adult, £9.00 for seniors, £5.50 for child under 17, free for child under 5 and £27.50 for family (2 adults and 2 under 17).
